The President and CEO of BSA is the chief industry advocate for the global software industry. The CEO leads public policy initiatives and intellectual property protection programs designed to break down trade barriers and open and grow markets for software, mobile technologies, and cloud/web services. The CEO oversees work done in 80 countries by the organization’s staff of 75 people based in BSA headquarters and 13 foreign offices. [1] The CEO manages the BSA operating budget, which in 2012 totaled approximately $65 million, supported by membership dues and contributions of around $10 million and financial recoveries from intellectual property enforcement programs of approximately $55 million.
The successful candidate will lead the BSA into the next generation of strategic action needed in this period of changing market dynamics to achieve its mission of expanding software markets worldwide and creating conditions for innovation and growth. The CEO will provide the organization strong, strategic, and creative leadership for the future.

BSA is currently seeking an experienced government relations professional to represent BSA and its member companies before the U.S. Congress and with federal agencies. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience and strong working relationships with members of Congress and their staffs and relevant federal agencies. Bipartisan skills and ability to work “across the aisle” is a must. A strong understanding of the software industry and a history working in some or all of BSA’s key issue areas – intellectual property, international trade, cloud computing, security, privacy and workforce issues – is a plus. This position will work closely with others on the BSA advocacy team to develop government relations strategies and implement plans to advance BSA’s global advocacy agenda.
