Through a full schedule of activities, BSA members were able to engage with many of Brazil’s top IT policy decision makers, customers, and industry colleagues, giving us a chance to forge and deepen relationships in this critical market for our companies. The events also generated significant, high-quality media coverage and enhanced BSA’s reputation as a positive force for IT development and economic progress in Brazil.

Why Brazil? Why Now?

The BSA Board selected Brazil as one of our priority markets for increased focus because of its rapidly growing PC and software markets and its reputation as a rising center of innovation. According to IDC, in 2009, Brazil’s PC sales are expected to surpass $9.5 billion, and packaged software sales are expected to reach nearly $4 billion. Sales growth for these product categories is projected at 18.2 percent and 13.4 percent, respectively. Brazil is the largest IT market in Latin America. Brazil is also recognized as an emerging center of innovation in IT goods and services, with many world-class labs and a high number of PhD graduates in computer sciences each year.
