BSA Urges House to Proceed with Comprehensive Patent Reform

Washington, DC – April 30, 2009

The following is a statement by Robert Holleyman, President and CEO of the Business Software Alliance (BSA), on the first major hearing in the House Judiciary Committee in 2009 on H.R. 1260, the Patent Reform Act of 2009:

“We are very pleased that the committee is taking up this important legislation in a timely fashion. The House has been a leader on this issue in recent years, and it is crucial that they get it right again for the future of American innovation, global competitiveness, and economic growth. Patent reform is a perfect example of the need to look forward and bring people together behind common-sense, bipartisan plans that will strengthen our economy. We look forward to working with Chairman Conyers, Ranking Member Smith, and all of the interested members on both sides of the aisle to develop meaningful reforms that can be enacted as quickly as possible.
