BSA Presents Cyber Champion Award to Chairman John Conyers

Washington, DC - June 3, 2009

The Business Software Alliance (BSA) today honored Congressman John Conyers (D – Mich.), Chairman of the House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, for his leadership in building a safe and legal digital world by presenting him the software industry’s highest honor, the Cyber Champion Award. The award was presented as part of BSA’s 2009 CEO Forum, which brought together 10 chief executives of some of the world’s leading software companies in Washington for a round of meetings with top officials in the Obama Administration and Congress.

During the 2007-2008 session of Congress, Chairman Conyers played an instrumental role in the passage of legislation to protect intellectual property and fight cyber crime as well as passage in the House of Representatives of patent reform legislation. Chairman Conyers also championed pro-growth and pro-innovation measures. He understands technology offers the solutions to the challenges facing our country.

“On behalf of all BSA member companies, we salute Chairman Conyers as a 2008 Cyber Champion award recipient for going the extra mile to strengthen our economy and security,” said Robert Holleyman, president and CEO of BSA. ”Chairman Conyers has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to solving problems and forging partnerships for progress.”
