BSA Statement on the White House Forum on Modernizing Government:
Technology CEOs Add Vital Insight to Government Efficiency Efforts
As the Obama Administration hosted private sector leaders at today’s White House Forum on Modernizing Government, the Business Software Alliance (BSA) emphasized the important role that technology firms can play in increasing government efficiency. The White House event was led by President Obama and attended by BSA member CEO’s including Sybase’s John Chen, Adobe’s Shantanu Narayen, Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer and Rosetta Stone’s Tom Adams.
Robert Holleyman, President and CEO of BSA, the global trade association representing the software industry, said:
“Private sector technology leaders have incredible insight to share on harnessing the power of software and technology to increase efficiency and improve customer service. We are heartened to see the White House reaching out to tap that expertise.“There were clear, common themes that came up as I talked with BSA member CEO’s today before they attended the White House Forum. First was the issue of technology choice and the importance of a transparent and objective procurement process. The result will ensure government technology decisions are based on performance, quality, security, and cost.“Second was the importance of utilizing existing technology wherever possible – taking advantage of the many innovations that have been developed in the private sector and applying those to meet the U.S. Government’s technology needs. These themes were shared in today’s forum, and should be incorporated into the Administration’s efforts to increase efficiency and improve customer service for U.S. citizens.“Today’s discussion was an exciting and important step in President Obama’s efforts to modernize government, transform customer service, streamline operations and maximize the return on the technological investment.”
