SAM practitioners have made great strides in recent years, and many are currently delivering professional, robust and profitable SAM services to their customers. Yet every software vendor and SAM practitioner has a slightly different interpretation of what SAM actually means and entails. Many partners find it difficult to support customers through SAM projects because there are so many details and options.
Thus, leading SAM practitioners are asking for a consistent approach they can reference to show they are producing worthwhile results. BSA SAM Advantage will be that approach.
BSA SAM Advantage will help you and your team to do what you do best. You will continue to engage your existing and new customers directly, offering the advantages of a tiered, ISO-backed approach and showing how your particular services support that approach. You will have access to Web-based training and resources, such as the BSA SAM Advantage Roadmap, with practical steps, templates and recognized milestones for each of the four tiers. More than just training in the standard’s requirements (e.g., what you have to do), BSA SAM Advantage will provide richer guidance to partners and customers in how to do it best.

David Bicket, Convener of the ISO’s Working Group for 19770-1: “Our group recently undertook a world-wide survey which demonstrated that an incremental approach like BSA SAM Advantage is definitely needed. In delivering this, and in providing a clear route towards the standard, I believe BSA SAM Advantage is firmly focused on meeting real business requirements. The approach proposed by the BSA is now being officially trialled as a potential future international standard itself.” Michael Beare, Director, Channel, Genuine Software Initiative at Microsoft: “Current SAM training structures don’t take into account the sheer diversity of SAM needs and expectations among businesses. BSA SAM Advantage will provide breadth of resources and flexibility in implementation, enabling us to deliver high-value support and to steer our customers towards achieving software asset management optimization.”
