WASHINGTON, DC — April 29, 2014 —
BSA | The Software Alliance today applauded Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Chris Coons (D-Del.) for introducing legislation to combat the theft of corporate trade secrets.
“I commend Senators Hatch and Coons for introducing the Defend Trade Secrets Act. There is a clear need for legislative action: trade secret theft costs the United States hundreds of billions of dollars a year,” said BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel. “Current federal law is insufficient. There needs to be a uniform federal standard with a well-balanced private right of action that allows trade secret owners to sue when their intellectual property is misappropriated. We look forward to working with Senators Hatch and Coons on this issue as the legislative process advances.”
