WASHINGTON, DC — July 1, 2014 —
BSA | The Software Alliance today commended the House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade for releasing draft legislation to fight abusive patent demand letters.
“We applaud Chairman Terry and his staff for their hard work and for engaging in an inclusive dialogue that has produced a solid framework. We look forward to continuing to work with the Committee and other stakeholders as the bill progresses,” said BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel. “Abusive demand letters are a scourge on the patent system. Well-crafted legislation will help curb these abuses. This is one important piece of the broader patent reform effort we need in order to make life harder for bad actors and better for innovators.”
