House Passage of Surveillance Reform Bill Is an Important Step, Says BSA

WASHINGTON, DC — May 22, 2014

BSA | The Software Alliance today welcomed passage of the USA Freedom Act by the House of Representatives and looked forward to action in the Senate to advance needed surveillance reforms.

“The House has taken an important step toward ending bulk collection of user data and restoring trust in the underpinnings of the digital economy. We look forward to working with the Senate to further improve the legislation as the process continues,” said BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel. “Surveillance reforms need to strike a more careful balance than we have today between national security needs and privacy protections for the public.”
