Privacy

PrivacyBSA supports a balanced approach to privacy that respects and encourages informed consumer choices while ensuring industry can continue delivering value to consumers by providing products and services tailored to their specific needs. Privacy regimes also must support the free flow of data across international borders so cloud computing and other valuable data services can flourish.

Specific policy actions needed:

Consumer privacy

  • Expand public trust and confidence in digital commerce by supporting sound data-stewardship practices to protect consumers’ privacy through enforceable voluntary, industry-led efforts, and by promoting responsible Internet habits among users.
  • Ensure that privacy policies leave ample breathing room for technological innovation and the development of new services such as cloud computing.
