Statement from BSA | The Software Alliance on Bipartisan McCaul-Warner Security Commission

WASHINGTON — February 29, 2016 — The national commission proposed by House Homeland Security Chairman Michael McCaul and Senator Mark Warner is a welcome contribution that could prove to be an important part of a comprehensive strategy to address security and technology challenges in the digital age. We commend them for their leadership. These are difficult issues involving numerous interests, and they deserve full and thoughtful consideration to ensure we avoid unintended consequences. BSA | The Software Alliance is ready to engage productively in much-needed dialogues that contribute to a better understanding of the key role security technologies such as encryption play in our society.
