BSA Applauds Advanced Manufacturing Jobs in America Act

WASHINGTON – May 7, 2020 – BSA | The Software Alliance commends Senators Jacky Rosen and Marsha Blackburn on their Advanced Manufacturing Jobs in America Act, S. 3188. The bill directs the US Department of Labor to initiate pilot projects involving various stakeholders to facilitate worker training programs on advanced manufacturing skills.

“Industries from manufacturing to agriculture and beyond are increasingly leveraging software-driven technologies to create jobs and economic growth. The lack of workers with the skills necessary to fill the jobs these industries create is concerning – and this trend has been very clear in the advanced manufacturing industry for a long time,” said Craig Albright, Vice President, Legislative Strategy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “The digital economy offers new job opportunities, and this is particularly relevant for workers displaced due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. If workers can receive appropriate training on skills necessary to perform jobs that are, and will continue to be, in high demand such as those offered by the advanced manufacturing industry, the American workforce and the entire US economy will greatly benefit. BSA applauds this effort by Senators Rosen and Blackburn and urges Congress to invest in training and workforce development programs.”
