WASHINGTON, DC — May 22, 2013 —
BSA | The Software Alliance today applauded Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) for introducing legislation that adds constructive momentum to the debate about how to curb unwarranted patent litigation.
“Patent litigation is an attractive business model for trolls because it costs a lot less to press a claim than it does to mount an effective legal defense. We need practical solutions to correct that asymmetry,” said Tim Molino, BSA Director of Government Relations. “No single solution will by itself curb all abusive patent litigation. It will take a combination of measures. BSA applauds Senator Cornyn for adding helpful momentum to this debate with his Patent Abuse Reduction Act. We look forward to studying his proposals in detail and working with him to shape effective solutions.”
