House Judiciary Hearing Underscores Need for Effective Trade Secrets Legislation

WASHINGTON, DC — June 24, 2014 —

BSA | The Software Alliance today applauded the House Judiciary Committee for drawing attention to the importance of protecting trade secrets in a subcommittee hearing on “Promoting and Protecting American Innovation, Competitiveness and Market Access in Foreign Markets.”

“I commend Chairmen Goodlatte and Coble and Ranking Members Conyers and Nadler for shining a light on the ongoing challenge we face in preventing misappropriation of trade secrets that are critical for innovative technology companies,” said BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel. “We urge lawmakers to move quickly to enact legislation that creates appropriate causes of action — including a federal civil cause of action — so BSA member companies and others can keep bad actors from stealing their innovations with impunity.”
