Kate Goodloe, managing director at tech industry group BSA | The Software Alliance, will call on lawmakers to play a role in setting the AI policy agenda, arguing that the EO doesn’t replace the need for legislation.

“Congress should pass legislation that ensures the [National Institute of Standards and Technology AI] Framework guides the government’s use and procurement of AI systems … [and] enact legislation that establishes new safeguards for private sector companies that develop or deploy high-risk AI systems,” Goodloe will say.
