BSA Voices Support for Ethical AI Resolution
WASHINGTON – February 28, 2019 – BSA | The Software Alliance applauds the introduction of today’s House Resolution in support of guidelines for the ethical development of AI. The Resolution recognizes that AI will create opportunities to grow the economy and improve the delivery of critical services in ways that will enhance wellbeing and strengthen virtually every industry sector, from healthcare to education. Seizing on these opportunities and ensuring that AI is used to advance the public interest will require thoughtful collaboration between government, industry, academia, and civil society. BSA is pleased to see that Resolution’s recommendations track closely with BSA’s Five Pillars for Responsible AI, including building trust in AI, ensuring privacy and data protections, and supporting workforce development. BSA thanks Representative Brenda Lawrence and Representative Ro Khanna for introducing this Resolution and looks forward to working with them as the Resolution moves forward.
