BSA Welcomes New OECD Principles for Trustworthy AI
BRUSSELS – May 22, 2019 - BSA | The Software Alliance welcomes the approval of the OECD Recommendation on Artificial Intelligence as a positive international step toward the development and deployment of trustworthy AI. BSA members are global leaders in the development of cutting-edge AI tools and in efforts to build confidence in AI systems.
“The guidelines set out by the OECD—including fairness, robustness and safety, accountability, transparency, and explainability—are fundamental principles for responsible technological innovation. BSA strongly supports the OECD’s guidelines and their aim to ensure values-based investment, education, and research policies in the AI field,” said Thomas Boué, BSA Director General, Policy – EMEA. “BSA continues to be a leading advocate of efforts that strengthen trust in emerging technologies. We look forward to working with the OECD and other regional and international fora to facilitate responsible AI innovation.”
BSA recently developed five Key Pillars for Responsible Artificial Intelligence, which are closely aligned with the OECD guidelines and can be found at ai.bsa.org.
