POLITICO Playbook Breakfast in London with Matt Hancock
BSA sponsored the POLITICO Playbook Breakfast in London with Matt Hancock, former UK Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport on July 4, 2018. Victoria Espinel, President and CEO of BSA │ The Software Alliance gave opening remarks and the discussion focused on emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, ethics, and Internet safety. Jack Blanchard, POLITICO London Playbook writer, led the candid conversation with Minister Hancock on how to make the U.K. tech industry a force for good and to explore the emerging challenges and opportunities it offers.
Minister Hancock discussed key issues from data flows to workflow development. On a data-sharing deal between the UK and the EU, he explained that conversations are ongoing and that he is confident a good deal will be reached as it is in the interests of the EU as well as the U.K. Speaking about the U.K.'s ability to attract top tech talent, he stressed that there are people from all around the world who started great businesses in the country and that the U.K. needs access to the best talent from around the world.
