BSA Welcomes Senate Commerce Committee Hearing on Data Privacy
WASHINGTON – September 29, 2021 – BSA | The Software Alliance offered the following statement on today’s Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation hearing on Protecting Consumer Privacy.
“A strong, comprehensive federal privacy law is the best way to ensure consumers have important rights over their personal data. We welcome the Senate Commerce Committee’s bipartisan leadership on data privacy and are pleased that the Committee is focused on ensuring that the FTC has the resources it needs to safeguard consumers’ privacy,” said Aaron Cooper, Vice President, Global Policy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “Earlier this year, BSA joined with the National Consumers League and Common Sense Media to support federal legislative efforts to enact a strong new data privacy law. We remain committed to this effort and stand ready to collaborate with leaders in Congress to create national privacy protections.”
