Privacy + Security Forum: State Privacy Law Workshop
Speaker: Director, Policy, Olga Medina, BSA | The Software Alliance
States lawmakers and enforcement agencies have continued to play a leadership role in shaping the U.S. privacy landscape. The first part of this workshop will look at the growing number of states that have adopted comprehensive privacy laws. While there are trend lines across these laws, they also diverge in important respects. We will help you understand key differences that may be relevant to your compliance program. In addition, the legislative battle is ongoing in many states, with significant activity this year in a number of states, including Maryland and Kentucky. We will look at these most recent legislative efforts, including from the front lines of the legislative battle in Maryland.
The second part of the workshop looks to other important state law developments, including enforcement by state attorneys general and state developments around children’s privacy and safety, facial recognition and other biometric privacy issues, health data, direct-to-consumer genetic testing, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, and data security and breach notification developments.
