BSA Congratulates Singapore on Joining the APEC Cross-Border Privacy Rules and Privacy Recognition for Processors Systems
Singapore — March 6, 2018 — BSA | The Software Alliance congratulates Singapore on successfully joining the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Cross-Border Privacy Rules (CBPR) and Privacy Recognition for Processors (PRP) systems. The APEC CBPR and PRP systems are important mechanisms for enhancing consumer privacy and facilitating cross-border data flows across the region, and potentially across the globe.
Singapore’s participation in the APEC CBPR and PRP systems clearly re-affirms its progressive approach and recognition that economic activities in the digital age are often borderless. BSA particularly welcomes the foundation this lays for greater innovation by businesses transacting in and with Singapore, and the resulting benefits from such innovation that will accrue to society.
