BSA Helps Draft Industry Codes to Protect Australians from Harmful Content Online
CANBERRA – September 1, 2022 – BSA | The Software Alliance has been working together with five other associations in Australia to help draft a set of industry codes to protect citizens from certain harmful content online.
Australia’s Online Safety Act 2021 requires the development of codes by industry associations to regulate certain types of harmful online material, such as child sexual exploitation and pro-terror material. Once finalized, the draft codes will be submitted for registration to the eSafety Commissioner.
Feedback is now invited on the draft industry codes from communities, industry, other stakeholders, and the public. The draft industry codes and an accompanying explanatory paper are available here. Submissions may be lodged before October 2.
