Can Washington and Brussels Avert a Looming AI Crackup?

Washington and Brussels emerged from this week s inaugural Technology and Trade Council with high hopes for a united front on artificial-intelligence rules.

Encouraging these sort of bilateral discussions on AI early on is super important, so we avoid the outcome we saw in GDPR, said Christian Troncoso, the senior director of policy at The Software Alliance, a tech-industry lobbying group.

There’s an opportunity for the TTC to serve as a forum that will help keep the US and the EU on the same page on this topic, and avoid the divergence we've seen in the past like with GDPR, said Troncoso.
