BSA | The Software Alliance Voices Support for ICPA in Joint Industry Letter
WASHINGTON – September 15, 2017 – BSA | The Software Alliance praises Representatives Doug Collins, Hakeem Jeffries, Darrell Issa, and Suzan DelBene for introducing the International Communications Privacy Act (ICPA) in the House earlier this week. BSA signed a joint letter to the sponsors voicing industry support for the bill.
“Through tech, individuals and organizations are increasingly able to communicate, collaborate, and conduct commerce around the world,” said Craig Albright, BSA Vice President of Legislative Strategy. “US companies operating in this environment face the challenge of complying with multiple, often conflicting, privacy laws and regulations. ICPA would modernize the United States’ approach to these challenges, while striking a balance between citizens’ privacy rights and law enforcement’s need to gather evidence for criminal investigations. We urge the House to pass this legislation as soon as possible and look forward to working with the full Congress to turn ICPA into law.”
