Director or Senior Director, Policy - Artificial Intelligence

Department: Global Policy
Location: Washington, DC
Reports to: Senior Vice President, Global Policy
Posted: 08/3/2026

The Business Software Alliance is the global trade association of the enterprise software industry, representing companies that are leaders in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, quantum, and other breakthrough technologies. We work in over 20 markets in the US, Europe, and Asia, advocating policies that build trust in technology so that every industry sector and the public can benefit from innovation. BSA members create the business-to-business technologies, including AI, that are used by companies in every sector of the economy.

BSA is seeking a Director or Senior Director to help develop and advance BSA’s policy development and advocacy agenda on AI. The ideal candidate will have expertise in AI and a strong background in policy development, particularly at the federal level in the United States. The Director/Senior Director will work closely with BSA’s member companies and BSA staff to both formulate and advocate policy positions on cutting-edge AI issues.

BSA advocates policies that advance the responsible development, integration, and use of AI, particularly in the business-to-business context. BSA takes proactive positions to assist policymakers in addressing legitimate concerns while minimizing unintended consequences of regulatory approaches. To do this, BSA’s team identifies issues and formulates positions early in the process. In 2020, BSA developed a Framework to Build Trust in AI that brought together best practices for managing the risk of bias throughout an AI system’s lifecycle. The Framework is one example of pro-active leadership on AI policy issues for which the successful candidate will be responsible.

The Director/Senior Director will be responsible for identifying emerging issues, working collaboratively to develop BSA’s positions, and advocating before government officials. The Director/Senior Director will have primary responsibility for policy development and advocacy on AI at the US federal level. BSA also aligns its positions globally, and the Director/Senior Director will be an integral part of driving that alignment on AI in collaboration with the broader BSA team.
