BSA Applauds Passage of Comprehensive Data Privacy Bill in Connecticut
WASHINGTON – April 29, 2022 – BSA | The Software Alliance welcomes the bipartisan passage of comprehensive consumer data privacy legislation in the Connecticut General Assembly. The bill, SB 6, will now be sent to Governor Ned Lamont for signature and final enactment.
“BSA congratulates the Connecticut legislature on adopting strong consumer privacy protections for the people of Connecticut,” said Tom Foulkes, Senior Director, State Advocacy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “Connecticut lawmakers have decided to follow the model established by states like Colorado and Virginia, clearly delineating the distinct roles and obligations of different companies that handle consumer data, such as data controllers and data processors. We encourage Governor Lamont to swiftly sign SB 6 into law.”
BSA will continue to work with lawmakers at both the state and federal level as they consider data privacy issues, ultimately advocating for a nationwide comprehensive data privacy standard.
