BSA Calls for India AI Regulatory Framework To Distinguish Between Low- and High-Risk Uses of AI

Some argue even a sector-wide brush is too broad. “One of the things that we worry about sometimes is that governments say, healthcare is a high-risk sector, so any application of AI in the healthcare sector might be deemed high risk,” said Jared Ragland, senior director, policy, APAC, at BSA | The Software Alliance. “That’s not the right way of thinking about it, because healthcare too might have low-risk uses, like an AI-enabled calendar assistant, while eligibility for healthcare benefits or diagnostic procedures, while have an impact, might be higher risk.”
