BSA Calls for US Leadership in AI Following Trump Executive Order
WASHINGTON – Business Software Alliance Senior Vice President of Global Policy Aaron Cooper issued the following statement after the signing of President Donald Trump’s Executive Order on “Removing Barriers to American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence.”
“We applaud the Trump Administration’s Executive Order on leadership in artificial intelligence (AI). Most importantly, the Order sets improving lives, the economy, and security, as the overarching objective of American AI policy.
The United States has long been a beacon of economic leadership led by innovation. We welcome President Trump’s commitment to reinvigorating US leadership on the direction of AI policy, as well. We look forward to working with the administration as it develops its Action Plan called for in the Executive Order.
We stand ready to help achieve the goal of advancing AI innovation, and BSA has already contributed to this important priority, including in its Policy Solutions for Building Responsible AI that encompasses easily implementable solutions to address the most significant issues to advance the adoption of responsible AI across the economy.
Today, there are a myriad of regulations and proposals from different agencies and across all 50 states. The US will better succeed if there are clear, consistent rules and direction at the national level that achieve the policy objective of this order.”
