BSA Welcomes Passage of OPEN Government Data Act

WASHINGTON – December 22, 2018 – BSA | The Software Alliance commends today’s passage of OPEN Government Data Act, included as Title II of the Federal Evidence Based Policymaking Act. By making non-sensitive government data more readily available in machine-readable formats, the bill will improve the efficiency and transparency of government operations and create new opportunities for the development of artificial intelligence. “Government data is a national resource that is underutilized,” said Victoria Espinel, President and CEO of BSA | The Software Alliance. “The OPEN Government Data Act will make non-sensitive government datasets more freely available so that they can be leveraged to improve the delivery of public services and enhance the development of AI.
