BSA Welcomes Legislation to Reform Government Surveillance
WASHINGTON — April 28, 2015 —
BSA | The Software Alliance today welcomed the introduction of the bipartisan and bicameral USA FREEDOM Act, to reform the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) by making important changes to government surveillance practices.
“I applaud Chairman Goodlatte and Representatives Conyers, Sensenbrenner and Nadler, as well as Senators Leahy, Lee and their Senate colleagues, for their work to end bulk data collection and increase transparency in the public and private sectors,” said BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel. “In reforming government surveillance practices, it is critical that legislation strikes the right balance between securing our nation and its citizens and improving privacy protections for the public. The FISA reforms in the USA FREEDOM Act will help restore trust in both the US government and the US technology sector.”
