We write to you in connection with the recently announced investigation by the Department of Commerce to “determine the effects on the national security of imports of semiconductors and semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and their derivative products.” We urge you to clearly and unambiguously exclude from this scope of this investigation all imported inputs that are necessary to advance President Trump’s stated policy “to sustain and enhance” America’s global AI leadership in order to promote human flourishing, economic competitiveness, and national security (hereinafter “Essential AI Inputs”).
