BSA Urges EU & US to Advance Transatlantic Trade Discussions
Brussels — 13 July 2015 — As this week’s negotiating round on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) begins in Brussels, BSA | The Software Alliance urged EU and US negotiators to continue to work toward swift completion of an ambitious and comprehensive trade partnership that will foster more trade in digital products and services.
“The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is an opportunity to further strengthen the already strong relationship between Europe and the US, particularly when it comes to digital trade,” said Thomas Boué, Director of Policy – EMEA for BSA. “Last week’s debate in the European Parliament and passage of the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) bill in the US last month should reinvigorate these discussions with new urgency, and an aim to expedite completion of an agreement that enables digital commerce by keeping borders open to data flows and preventing mandates on where servers and other computing infrastructure are located. BSA urges negotiators to work toward a trade partnership fit for the digital age.”
