BSA Applauds House Passage of USA FREEDOM

WASHINGTON — May 13, 2015 —

BSA | The Software Alliance today commended the House for its 338-88 vote to approve the USA FREEDOM Act and its efforts to reform the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

“I congratulate the House of Representatives on its bipartisan efforts in passing the USA FREEDOM Act,” said BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel. “Public trust is critical to today’s technology economy, and passing this legislation will strengthen trust in both government surveillance programs and the US technology industry. By voting to end bulk data collection and improve transparency in the public and private sectors, the House has taken an important step in ensuring our national security and restoring public confidence. We urge the Senate to take swift action by passing this bill before the expiration of the current authorities.”
