Industry Group Suggests Government IoT Security Policy
Politico, July 2, 2020

BSA | The Software Alliance today offered its advice for government policies on internet of things security, based in part on building on existing consensus-based industry practices. It calls for distinguishing between consumer and industrial IoT, offering incentives for integrating security throughout device development, harmonizing national and international policies and establishing regularly updated baseline security requirements when necessary. “We need flexible policy approaches that are based on an understanding of how the entire IoT ecosystem works, seamlessly integrating security capabilities across devices, cloud services, and networks,” said Victoria Espinel, president and CEO of the group.
