BSA Urges US Administration to Invest in Partnerships, Agency Pilots as Part of PQC Transitions

The Business Software Alliance is advocating for the Trump administration to set requirements for agencies to create roadmaps on their post-quantum cryptography readiness and launch a PQC upgrade pilot program by the end of 2026.
“Quantum computing is poised to be the next critical technological frontier, revolutionizing industries by solving complex problems in multiple domains, including materials science, logistics, and artificial intelligence, while unlocking trillions in global economic value,” according to a BSA position paper published ahead of a June 24 hearing on PQC in the House Oversight cyber subcommittee.
The paper says, “A successful strategy will build on the foundation laid during the first Trump Administration, reaffirming the view that quantum preparedness is a national and economic security imperative; reiterating the deadline to protect every agency information system with PQC by 2035, if not sooner; prioritizing cryptographic agility; and incentivizing the private sector to accelerate its own upgrade to PQC.”
