WASHINGTON — April 4, 2016 — BSA | The Software Alliance applauds Senate passage of the Defend Trade Secrets Act, a bill that addresses critical protections needed to foster software innovation. We commend the bill’s sponsors, Senator Orrin Hatch and Senator Chris Coons, as well as the Judiciary Committee leadership, for their work in advancing this legislation. The theft of trade secrets is a threat to the advancement of new technologies, and to the American economy as a whole. This legislation provides an important tool to protect trade secrets with federal court action. BSA is pleased to see quick action in the Senate. We look forward to working with the lead sponsors of the companion legislation in the House of Representatives – Reps. Collins, Jeffries, and Nadler – and Chairman Goodlatte to move promptly on legislation that will significantly bolster our innovation economy.
