Digital Transformation Network Report Shows Tech Impact in Construction

Digital Tools Are Making Construction Safer and More Efficient

WASHINGTON – Enterprise technology tools are revolutionizing how the construction industry plans, builds, and manages projects throughout their lifecycle, according to a new report released Tuesday by the Digital Transformation Network (DTN).

The DTN, a signature initiative of BSA | The Software Alliance, released the report to showcase how the digital tools put into practice by architects, engineers, and contractors have made building industries safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.

A copy of the report is now available here.

Drawing on established research on the construction sector, the report shows how the tools and services provided by makers of enterprise software have become an important part of the building and construction process, helping to reduce construction costs, and increase productivity by as much as 15 percent.

"Enterprise technology has brought about a significant transformation in the construction industry, fundamentally altering the way professionals approach the built environment,” said Allison Scott, Director of Customer Experience & Industry Advocacy, Autodesk Construction Solutions. “Whether in the office, trailer or field, construction team members can see immediate benefits from using construction management software, such as enhanced collaboration and communication, increased accountability, and a major boost to efficiency, all of which help mitigate risk and grow profitability. By leveraging advanced tools and capabilities throughout the project lifecycle, from design through construction to long-term operations, the AEC industry is fostering the next wave of innovation and resiliency.”

“Bentley Systems offers innovative software to advance the world’s infrastructure,” said Bentley Systems Vice President of Government Relations David McKenney. “Our industry-leading solutions are used by professionals, and organizations of every size who design, build, and operate the world’s infrastructure advancing both the global economy and the environment for improved quality of life. This new report by the Digital Transformation Network shows how connected construction is the future of the industry, and our entire economy.”

The construction sector report adds to the portfolio of quarterly, cross-sector reports published by the Digital Transformation Network (DTN), a signature initiative of BSA | The Software Alliance. In its first year, the DTN published cross-sector reports showing the impact of digital transformation in the automotive industry, manufacturing, and in achieving sustainability.

BSA will host a briefing with House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves on Wednesday, March 1 on Capitol Hill to discuss the findings of this report. Interested media should contact BSA Public Affairs for more information.

This report – and the impact of cybersecurity within the construction industry – will also be a point of discussion during the leading construction trade show, CONEXPO-CON/AGG, on March 15 in Las Vegas. Click here for more information about the session.
