BSA Welcomes New State Advocacy Lead
WASHINGTON – BSA | The Software Alliance this week welcomed state government affairs expert Heather Curry as Senior Director, State Advocacy. Amid a flurry of state policy development on artificial intelligence (AI) and privacy, Curry will lead BSA’s 50-state advocacy program.
“We’re thrilled to have Heather at BSA,” said Craig Albright, Senior Vice President, US Government Relations at BSA. “Her expertise and track record in leading multi-state efforts to advance impactful legislation will be an enormous benefit to our state program. As state lawmakers continue to focus on responsible AI policies and comprehensive data privacy, Heather will help to advance the enterprise software industry’s priorities in state capitols and further elevate BSA’s constructive and solutions-oriented approach.”
Since the beginning of 2020, BSA’s experts have worked with state legislatures across the US on policies that enhance consumer protections and help spread the benefits of technological innovation to businesses of all sizes and in every industry. These policies include maintaining strong consumer data protections, a thoughtful and risk-based approach to AI, and modernizing government IT.
Before joining BSA, Curry served as Director of Strategic Engagement at the Goldwater Institute for almost six years, where she led engagement on over 90 active pieces of legislation across more than 35 states to help pass numerous bills into law each session. Before her time at the Goldwater Institute, Curry spent nearly seven years at the Cato Institute as a Manager of External Affairs and later as Director of External Affairs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of San Diego.
