BSA Welcomes New Head of State Advocacy
WASHINGTON – November 15, 2022 – BSA | The Software Alliance announced the addition of Matthew Lenz, who joins BSA as Senior Director, State Advocacy, and will run BSA’s 50-state advocacy program. Based in Rhode Island, Matthew will lead BSA’s efforts to advocate for the enterprise software industry in state capitols nationwide.
“With extensive experience in state policy and trade association advocacy, Matthew is well-equipped to spearhead our expanding state program,” said Craig Albright, Vice President, US Government Relations at BSA | The Software Alliance. “As technology policymaking continues to grow in state capitols, Matthew will be a tremendous asset to the enterprise software industry on issues such as data privacy and responsible AI development.”
BSA works with state elected officials nationwide to support responsible digital transformation policies that help businesses of all sizes and in every industry to create jobs and grow. This includes strong consumer data protection, modernizing government IT, maintaining a thoughtful and risk-based approach to AI, and strengthening cybersecurity.
Before joining BSA, Matthew served as Director of State Government Affairs for the Entertainment Software Association and as Director of State Government Affairs for the Toy Association. In addition to his time in the private sector, Matthew previously worked as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Rhode Island. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Relations from the University of Rhode Island and a Juris Doctorate from New England Law in Boston.
