Victoria A. Espinel

Präsidentin und CEO

Victoria Espinel ist eine angesehene Autorität im Spannungsfeld von technologischer Innovation, globalen Märkten und öffentlicher Ordnung. Sie leitet strategische Bemühungen, die dazu beitragen, die Technologielandschaft in 60 Ländern durch die Arbeit in den 10 weltweiten BSA-Büros zu gestalten.

Espinel fungiert auch als Präsidentin der Software.org: der BSA Foundation. Die Software.org ist eine unabhängige und überparteiliche internationale Forschungsorganisation, die Entscheidungsträgern und der breiten Öffentlichkeit helfen soll, die Auswirkungen von Software auf unser Leben, unsere Wirtschaft und unsere Gesellschaft besser zu verstehen.

Espinel war ein Jahrzehnt lang im Weißen Haus für die republikanische und die demokratische Regierung als Beraterin von Präsident Obama zum Thema des geistigen Eigentum tätig. Zuvor war sie die erste Chefunterhändlerin für geistiges Eigentum und Innovation bei USTR in den USA. Sie war außerdem Professorin für internationalen Handel und geistiges Eigentum an der George Mason School of Law.

Espinel ist Gründerin und fortwährende Co-Sponsorin des Summer-Immersion-Programms von Girls Who Code in Washington, DC, das jungen Frauen ermöglicht, Karrieren in STEM (Science, Technolgy, Engineering, Mathematics)-Bereichen zu verfolgen. Sie hält Vorträge auf der ganzen Welt, bei denen Sie erklärt, welche erstaunlichen Dinge Menschen mit Software schaffen können. Zudem ermutigt sie Unternehmen, Regierungen und die Öffentlichkeit zur Unterstützung von Richtlinien, die noch mehr Software-Durchbrüche ermöglichen.

Espinel ist Vorsitzende des Global Future Council für digitale Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft des Weltwirtschaftsforums. Sie wurde von Präsident Obama zum Mitglied des Beratungsausschusses für Handelspolitik und Verhandlungen (ACTPN) ernannt, der wichtigsten Beratergruppe der US-Regierung im internationalen Handel. Sie besitzt einen LLM der London School of Economics, einen JD der Georgetown University Law School und einen BS der School of Foreign Service der Georgetown University.
