BSA Applauds Changes to India's First National Machine-to-Machine Policy
NEW DELHI - May 19, 2015 — BSA | The Software Alliance expressed its appreciation for changes to India’s national machine-to-machine (M2M) policy, the National Telecom M2M Roadmap. By working to understand stakeholder concerns about data localization requirements, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Department of Telecommunications has created a policy roadmap that will enable innovation for India’s technology sector.
“We appreciate that Ministry officials listened to industry’s concerns and recognized the value of these improvements to the National Telecom M2M Roadmap,” BSA President and CEO Victoria Espinel said. “Removing the data localization requirements from the final version of the Roadmap is a significant and positive change. By removing such policy obstacles to cross-border data flows, and ensuring that no other impediments arise, India will be able to support the free flow of information between countries and help promote the continued growth of India’s booming software economy.”
