COVID IT SOS
Politico, June 30, 2020

IT modernization funding “should be a high order priority” in the next coronavirus relief package, major tech trade groups told lawmakers on Monday. In a letter to congressional leaders, a coalition of major US trade associations urged Congress to boost funding for federal efforts such as the Technology Modernization Fund and CISA’s Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program.
They also implored Congress to send IT funding to state and local governments that have been overwhelmed with technical challenges during the pandemic. “Citizens are being denied positive digital government experiences as they seek access to much needed programs, such as securing business loan programs, receiving economic security payments, or applying for unemployment benefits,” wrote the groups, which include the software trade group BSA, the Internet Association and the Information Technology Industry Council.
