BSA | The Software Alliance welcomes today’s joint statement from US Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and European Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders. Their announcement that the US Department of Commerce and the European Commission will begin to work towards an enhanced US-EU Privacy Shield framework is a promising start towards developing a new, sustainable data transfer mechanism between the United States and European Union. BSA | The Software Alliance applauds Senators Roger Wicker (R-MS) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA) as well as Representatives Frank Pallone (D-NJ) and Greg Walden (R-OR) for their bicameral, bipartisan letter to the US Department of Commerce and the Federal Trade Commission urging them to work with their European counterparts to ensure consumer and business services are not disrupted as a result of the European Court of Justice’s recent decision invalidating the EU-US Privacy Shield.
