BSA Supports Ambitious Digital Trade Provisions in Future EU-UK Partnership
BRUSSELS – March 19, 2020 – BSA | The Software Alliance offered the following statement on today’s publication of the EU’s Draft Legal Agreement for the Future EU-UK Partnership.
“BSA supports a high level of ambition for digital trade provisions in the future EU-UK partnership. Providing future-proof mechanisms to businesses that rely on digital trade and cross-border data flows will be key to achieving a successful, modern agreement,” said Thomas Boué, Director General, Policy – EMEA at BSA | The Software Alliance. “Ensuring that trust in digital-enabled trade remains a cornerstone of EU-UK trade is critical for all companies, large and small, particularly given current economic circumstances. BSA looks forward to supporting both trading partners in these efforts as negotiations continue.”
In a recent policy paper, “Digital Trade in the EU-UK Free Trade Agreement,” BSA outlines ten provisions that Brussels and London could adopt to support job creation and innovation in the EU and UK.
