BSA Statement on ENISA’s Candidate European Cybersecurity Certification Scheme for Cloud Services
BRUSSELS – February 5, 2021 – BSA | The Software Alliance offered the following statement today on ENISA’s Candidate European Cybersecurity Scheme for Cloud Services (EUCS).
“As more businesses across every sector of the economy turn to cloud technology to improve their operations, ENISA has the potential to create a powerful market-driven tool that builds trust, enhances security, and supports risk management for cloud services in Europe,” said Isabelle Roccia, Senior Manager, Policy – EMEA, at BSA | The Software Alliance. “The market adoption of the EUCS will depend on its workability; its alignment with existing, internationally recognized practices; and, most importantly, its ability to provide a single European cybersecurity benchmark for cloud service providers across Member States.”
“BSA is committed to working with EU decisionmakers toward a strong, voluntary certification that supports a holistic approach to cybersecurity in line with current industry practices,” Roccia added. “To that end, BSA has developed a Framework for Secure Software, an outcome-focused, standards-based risk management tool to help stakeholders in the software industry evaluate software security outcomes.”
