BSA | The Software Alliance Urges Congress to Act on the Modernizing Government Technology Act
WASHINGTON — November 28, 2016 — BSA | The Software Alliance urged Congress to move quickly on H.R. 6004, the Modernizing Government Technology Act, in a letter released today.
The US Government’s reliance on outdated systems lowers the efficiency of government operations and increases the risk for cyberattacks. H.R. 6004 would help address these technology gaps by taking advantage of innovation – updating agency systems, hastening the transition to cloud computing, and encouraging the adoption of IT products and services that will improve the federal government’s cybersecurity posture.
H.R. 6004 is a joint bill that combines the Information Technology Modernization Act, introduced by Congressman Steny Hoyer earlier this year with bipartisan support, and a similar bill from Congressman Will Hurd. The joint bill passed the House in September and now sits before the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
The letter can be found here.
