BSA Commends Committee Passage of AI in Government Act
WASHINGTON – November 6, 2019 – BSA | The Software Alliance welcomes today’s passage of the AI in Government Act of 2019 by the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee. The bill would create an AI Center of Excellence to grow the pipeline of experts that can assist agencies as they consider how to harness AI to improve the delivery of government services. Emerging technologies such as AI have the potential to transform our daily lives and improve the way government agencies function and provide services to their stakeholders. The AI Center of Excellence is a much-needed institution that will provide training and resources that will be critical to the ongoing effort to modernize the federal government’s IT infrastructure.
BSA applauds the bill’s sponsors, Sens. Schatz, Gardner, Harris, and Portman, and Reps. McNerney and Meadows, for their leadership on this key issue. We look forward to working with Congress to pass this legislation.
