BSA Comments on House Energy and Commerce Draft Privacy Legislation
WASHINGTON – December 19, 2019 – BSA | The Software Alliance offered the following statement on the release of draft privacy legislation from the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
“BSA member companies want a strong, comprehensive federal privacy law. We commend the staff on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce for their working on a bipartisan basis on this draft legislation and look forward to engaging in their process,” said Craig Albright, Vice President, Legislative Strategy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “All companies should have strong privacy obligations to protect consumer rights. Those obligations should be tailored to the company’s role in the data ecosystem so that controllers and processors each play their appropriate roles in privacy protection. We hope the Committee and others in Congress can pass bipartisan legislation that establishes one clear, strong national standard for privacy.”
