BSA Statement on PACT Act
WASHINGTON – March 17, 2021 – BSA | The Software Alliance offered the following statement on today’s introduction of the Platform Accountability and Consumer Transparency (PACT) Act.
“We appreciate Senators Schatz and Thune working together in a bipartisan way to develop the Platform Accountability and Consumer Transparency Act,” said Craig Albright, Vice President of Legislative Strategy at BSA | The Software Alliance. “Changing Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act can affect a much broader spectrum of stakeholders than those that have galvanized the current debate. We look forward to working with the sponsors, the committees of jurisdiction, and other leaders in Congress to ensure that efforts to modernize Section 230 avoid unintended consequences and account for the broader universe of technology companies that rely on the statute.”
