BSA Applauds Montana for New Consumer Data Privacy Act
WASHINGTON – BSA | The Software Alliance welcomed the enactment of Montana’s Consumer Data Privacy Act. Matthew Lenz, Senior Director of State Advocacy at BSA | The Software Alliance, released the following statement on the enactment of SB 384.
“BSA appreciates the enactment of a comprehensive consumer privacy law that creates strong privacy protections for Montana residents.
States across the country are recognizing the importance of establishing clear privacy protections for consumers. BSA applauds Montana for adopting privacy legislation that creates new rights and protections for consumers and follows the model established in other state privacy laws, including clearly distinguishing the roles and obligations of controllers and processors of consumer data.
Creating strong and comprehensive privacy protections for consumers is a priority for BSA. Four state privacy laws have now been enacted over the past eight weeks.”
